Chavdar Petrov

Born on October 14, 1955 in the village of Exarch Joseph, Rouse region. In 1974 was graduated from the Art School in the town of Kazanlak. In 1980 leaves the St. Cyril and Methodius University in Veliko Tarnovo with speciality “Painting”. Has been a member of the the Artists' Union since 1985. Lives and works in Vidin.

Chavdar Petrov participated in more than 20 individual exhibitions, some of which took place at the Rakovski gallery in Sofia (1985), Ruski gallery in Sofia (1987), Nikola Petrov Art gallery in Vidin (1993), „Art 36” gallery in Sofia (six individual exhibitions), Raiko Alexiev gallery in Sofia (1995 and 2000), Balabanov House in Plovdiv (1996), “Cite des arts” in Paris (2005), anniversary exhibition at the Nikola Petrov Art gallery in Vidin (2007) etc. Also participated in group exhibitions in Bulgaria (Bulgarian Painting after 1989, Art parlour at the National Culture Center in 2002; opening exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sofia, 2011) and abroad (Serbia and Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Austria and South Korea). In 1995 stays in the studios of the "Cite des arts" in Paris.

Some of the painter’s awards are: “Man and Labour” 2nd prize for painting in Gabrovo, 1985; 2nd prize for painting at the International Biennial of Humour and Satire, 1994; painting award from the Bulgarian Artists' Union in Sofia, 1995; painting award from the town of Resita, Romania, 1998 ; “Friends of the Sea” award for painting by the Municipality of Bourgas, 2010.

His works are owned by the National Art Gallery and almost all other galleries in Bulgaria, as well as are kept in private collections at home and abroad (Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, USA, UK, "Peter Ludwig” collection).
